DanceQuirks Movement Stories for the Classroom!

Linda Lawrence has a Masters Degree in Dance Education, and has been teaching and performing for children for more than 40 years. Besides having been a creative movement teacher at The Dalton School (in NYC) and Crossroads Elementary School (in LA), she was the creator/director of Dancequirks Movement Theater, a Los Angeles-based group that performed at schools, libraries and the Los Angeles Children's Museum and for which she received a grant from the City of Los Angeles Cultural Affairs Department's Arts Recovery Fund.

I had the privilege of watching three shows of DanceQuirks when performed at my daughter’s school. I was so impressed each time with Linda’s beautiful way of constructing each story with her innovative use of dance, creative movement & original props. The children (and adults in the room) were mesmerized and fully engaged in the performances. A special element of the shows is the interactive component; each child is given the opportunity to participate in the performance. Linda’s expertise with teaching is clearly evident in the way she interacts with the children and motivates them to take part in the performance. Her stories are an exciting way to teach curriculum & to expose students to the art of dance. I absolutely love DanceQuirks!
